“The Aviator” is based on Howard Hughes’s life. The film portrays his life during the time that he became a successful film producer and an aviation magnate. The film was nominated for 11 Academy Awards, and won 5 of them. Howard was known by his eccentric behavior, reclusive lifestyle - which was caused by an obsessive compulsive disorder - and because he became an influential figure in aviation industry. He formed the “Hughes Aircraft Company” that designed many aircraft with high speed power. The industry played a very important role in aviation with H-4 Hercules and also expanded Trans World Airlines (TWA), a famous company that had Amelia Earhart as a Vice president. Hughes suffered from psychological disorders and after the project of its biggest plane was refused by the army of the United States, he had a big relapse and got himself confined in his studio for four months preventing the entry of any person with fear of being infected by germs. In April of 1976, during a trip to his vacation mansion, he died during the flight. Howard Hughes was an inventor, aviator and revolutionary man, who died in the place where he liked the most: on a plane.
